A Curbstoner is a scam artist who is out to take your money and often leave the person with a vehicle isn't what it appears to be. What these people do is very simple but highly affective. They "rent" a dealer plate from a new or used car dealer and they sell vehicles under the name of that car dealer. They also engage in fraudulent paper work activity and they don't insect the vehicles they sell.

These thiefs often sell used cars that don't meet any public safety standards and the used cars are often broken down and don't run properly.

How to spot a curbstoner?

Spotting a curbstoner is easy. When your looking for a used car in your local paper or a local classified internet site ask the person that is selling the car how many cars do they have in there inventory. Before you buy ask them to look at the paperwork. Also, ask them if they are a "curbstoner" and see what they have to say ....
